Up for sale is an original WWII German Eastern Front Medal (Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42), commonly known as the Ostmedaille, complete with its original issue packet and ribbon.
This example is maker marked “77” on the suspension ring, attributed to Julius Maurer, Oberstein, a recognized and desirable manufacturer.
The medal retains a strong, untouched finish with excellent detail throughout. The obverse features the Wehrmacht eagle over a swastika with helmet and crossed grenade motif, while the reverse displays the correct inscription “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42”.
Included is the original ribbon, showing some period wear and slight discoloration consistent with age, as well as the original paper packet, clearly marked: “Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 (Ostmedaille)” The packet also shows the correct maker stamp, adding to the completeness and collectability of the set.
